TODO safety pressure tight caps give chemical, oil and gas tankers a certified extra closure on the outlet, and a red O-ring that warns the operator if there’s trapped pressure behind the cap before it’s removed.
A leaking bottom valve on a road tanker, rail tank car or ISO container can let product build up behind a standard outlet cap, and whoever removes that cap is first in line if it lets go. TODO Safety Pressure Tight Caps were designed in partnership with leading chemical manufacturers in Europe to remove that risk. They seal the outlet completely, count as an official second or third closure in place of an extra valve, and make any hidden pressure obvious before the cap comes off.
How it works: once fitted, the cap locks automatically in both directions and can only be released by a deliberate action from the operator, so it can’t work loose in transit. If an upstream valve fails and pressure builds behind the cap, it stays sealed and keeps the product contained. When the operator starts to remove it, a bright red O-ring becomes visible, a clear signal that the line is under pressure, and the cap vents that pressure in a controlled way before it can be fully removed. The cap also accepts standard wire or plastic security seals for tamper evidence.
Built for demanding cargoes, the caps are machined from 316L stainless steel and rated for a maximum working pressure of 25 bar (363 psi), with a 37.5 bar (544 psi) test pressure. Standard seals operate from -20°C to +80°C, with an extended range of -45°C to +150°C available. O-rings can be specified in nitrile (NBR), Viton (FKM), EPDM, Kalrez or Chemraz (FFKM) and FMVQ to suit acids, solvents, hydrocarbons and LPG.
Sizes are 2″ (DN50), 3″ (DN80) and 4″ (DN100). The caps comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and are TÜV approved for German rail tank cars, making them a trusted choice for chemical distributors, tank container operators, oil and gas terminals and LPG hauliers.
